Buying Ragdoll Kittens and Cats from Us

Cats are seasonal breeders, meaning that nature plans for them to have litters in the warmer times of the year...spring and summer. Usually the females stop coming into heat in late September through January. With house cats, sometimes Mother Nature is fooled with house lights on until late in the evening, so some cats will cycle all year long, but the most prevalent time is still in the spring or summer.

If you are looking for a kitten other than Spring or Summer, they may be harder to find, and you might be put on a waiting list. Also, since we have been breeding for so long, we do have a lot of referrals, and people coming back for second or even third cats. The people coming back and breeders do get on our waiting list first. However, once you have a deposit down, your place in line stays the same. That doesn't mean we never have kittens available, but it does mean at times they get sold fast.

Naturally your best bet for getting a kitten is to not be fussy on what color or pattern you want. We do try to match up a kitten with the right family based on personality, and again, it's easier to do that when the color and pattern don't matter to you too much. So do try to be flexible with what you want. we would rather place the kitten who will be outgoing and loves excitement and noise with a family who has children, rather than have that kitten go to a single person and the family get a quieter kitten...just because of color or pattern preference.

If you are impatient, and have to have a kitten "yesterday", then please call a larger breeder, one who has a larger number of cats than we do. They are much more likely to have kittens available all the time. If you call us, we can't guarantee we'll have a kitten at the exact time you call, but we will try to tell you when we are planning on breeding a female again, when we have a litter due, how our waiting list looks, or will refer you to other good breeders we know.

Referals We do have breeder friends in the neighboring towns and states, and we try to let each other know when we have kittens available. So if we don't have something for you, we can recommend them on the chance they will have something. The breeders that we do recommend, we know personally, and have been to their homes and have seen their cats. If we don't give out a breeders name it may only be that we don't know them personally, not necessarily that we don't approve of them. When you write to ask for a kitten, please let us know your location so we know which breeder to recommend to you based on your location.

Deposits We do request a $100.00 deposit to reserve a kitten. we take a very limited number of deposits when we know a cat is pregnant, and usually only if you are flexible in your choice. We would prefer waiting until we know we have a kitten for you. Once you have seen the kitten, and/or ok it over the phone or by email, the deposit becomes non-refundable. We will take a check or Pay Pal for your deposit, however for your final payment we do ask for cash or a money order. We've learned the hard way that this is the best policy.

Price for Pets We charge $650 for our pet kittens. This includes the spaying or neutering before you get the kitten, and at least one shot. No kittens leave our house un-spayed or un-neutered. The kitten will go home at approximately 13 weeks old. We also include a few days sample of food and some toys.

Retired Adults We also have retired adult breeders available every once in awhile. We only breed our cats for about 3 years for the following reasons. First, we want to keep our cattery small because it is better for all of our cat's health and happiness. Second, we want all of our cats to enjoy the benefits of living an enjoyable life in a pet home. While these breeding cats are sold for less than the price of a kitten, we are much more particular at choosing a good home for them. We prefer our breeder cats to go in a single cat household because it is harder to introduce adult cats to each other, and so they receive the extra attention they deserve. We prefer people who realize that adults take a little longer to adjust than a kitten does. We haven't had any of them not adjust though. We also prefer them to go to adults with no children, or older children only. It makes the transition easier.

Guarantees and Terms of Contract Moondance Rags and Kauffman Kats do early spaying and neutering for Pet and Show before your kitten goes to your home. There are no exceptions.

We guarantee our kittens for 72 hours against upper respiratory infection, fleas, worms, fungus and ear mites. We guarantee the cat does not have FeLV at the time of pickup, delivery or shipment.

If the cat is found to have a fatal hereditary or congenital defect within 2 years, we will replace the cat with another kitten (as long as we are still breeding) when we receive proof of the defect in the form of a complete necropsy report. Buyer is responsible for the cost of the necropsy.

Note...This part of our contract is very important to us. We only want to be breeding healthy cats, with no genetic problems. Sometimes the only way a breeder will know there is a genetic problem is when a kitten owner notifies the breeder of a problem. But we must know exactly what the genetic problem is, and not just a guess at it, so a necropsy (autopsy) is very important. We want to be responsible breeders. We only want to breed with healthy cats.

The purchaser is advised to take the new kitten(s), at the purchaser's expense, to a veterinarian for a complete exam within 72 hours or 3 working days. The kitten(s) may be returned for a complete refund if a medical problem is found at this time.

This cat is NOT to be declawed without written permission of the seller.

This cat is to be kept indoors only.
